What is?
Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic approach created to treat trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It helps individuals process distressing memories through bilateral stimulation, typically using guided eye movements, while recalling traumatic events. Although primarily used for PTSD, EMDR is effective for various mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, and phobias, and is recognized as an evidence-based treatment.
Schema Therapy
Schema Therapy is a psychological approach developed by Dr. Jeffrey Young, designed to treat a range of psychological issues by addressing deeply ingrained patterns or "schemas" that influence an individual's thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. These schemas typically originate in childhood and can develop from unmet emotional needs, adverse experiences, or negative influences from caregivers.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT helps you understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected, empowering you to challenge distorted thought patterns and replacing them with more balanced perspectives. CBT also employs behavioral techniques and equips individuals with practical problem-solving and coping strategies, making it an evidence based treatment for various conditions, including anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
(DBT) Skills
DBT helps you manage your behaviour and emotions. It teaches you new skills to cope with day-to-day life, and find new behaviours to replace harmful ones. It helps you understand why you struggle with the things you do.
DBT relies on a strong relationship between you and your therapist. This helps motivate you to change your behaviour and reach your goals.
Circle of Security Parenting (COSP)
COSP is a relationship-based parenting tool based on attachment research that provides parents a roadmap to build a secure attachment with their children.
Somatic Interventions
Somatic interventions focus on the connection between your body and mind, using physical awareness and movement to help process emotions and trauma. It’s about tuning into your body’s sensations to gain deeper insight and relieve stress, which can help you feel more grounded and in control during difficult times.
